Jay is a professional multilingual singer, songwriter, and educator. He received tertiary education in contemporary music at LASALLE College of the Arts. Jay was born in Singapore but grew up in Guangdong, China, where he was inspired to start singing in Mandarin and Cantonese, in addition to English repertoires. Jay has always wanted to perform on stage and has had these aspirations since a very young age. In 2014, he decided to dedicate his full focus to music, and he has done so ever since. He is a music enthusiast, and his desire to perform is what drives all of his academic and self-directed work to this day. Jay hopes to refine his skills as a musician and songwriter by creating music and performing on stages throughout Singapore. After graduation, he intends to teach full-time and perform on a regular basis.

He has accomplished numerous music-related projects at LASALLE, including stage performances at the LASALLE School of Contemporary Music Festival from 2018 to 2023. Besides that, he also participated in a LASALLE open house studio recording demonstration. In addition to performing regularly every week at school and outside of school. With his band The Next Exit, Jay performs at Scape in Orchard as a busker.
Aside from being a performer, Jay is also a passionate and enthusiastic singing teacher who teaches young children and adults between the ages of 7 and up at beginner level, one-to-one lessons, since 2021. Currently, he is preparing for two of them to take the RSL exam. In addition, he offers lessons both in person and online.
In order to get out of his comfort zone, he participated in many music-related events and festivals as a stage manager and backstage crew member to gain a full understanding of how shows are put on. In an attempt to try something new, he took photos for the CHOPPA festival during his internship. This enables him to perceive and appreciate the minor aspects of performance from a different angle.
As a hobby, he enjoys doing community service. He is prepared to promote harmony and serve the neighborhood by applying music to volunteer activities.
